MARTIN, Tenn. -- The Westview Lady Chargers softball team held its annual postseason awards banquet Thursday night, July 8, at the new First State Bank building with Ashley Bynum being named the team's Most Valuable Player.
Head coach J.B. Suiter presided over the event, which also recognized first- and second-team all-district honorees, as well as a group of young ladies affectionately referred to as the "Fab 4," consisting of Bynum, Shanna Chappell, Jenna Hazelwood and Kelly Gaston.
This foursome, all recently graduated seniors, led the Lady Chargers to four consecutive appearances in the state tournament with finishes among the top five (2010), top eight (2009) and top six (2007, 2008).
In four years, the "Fab 4" averaged 31 wins per year, including a 36-win season in 2009, while amassing a career won-lost record of 127-61, with three district tournament titles and a region championship.
For their career achievements, the four ladies were honored with a commemorative plaque and a framed jersey.
